7th International Conference on Public Services Interpreting and Translation (PSIT7)

The Human Factor in PSIT / El Factor Humano en TISP

The 7th International Conference on Public Services Interpreting and Translation (PSIT7), with The Human Factor in PSIT theme, will be held in the context of these premises at the University of Alcalá (Madrid) on 26th and 27th March 2020.

The main objective of this seventh edition of the conference is to continue with dialogue and the exchange of projects and experiences on PSIT carried out in previous meetings.T&I professionals, researchers, educational authorities and public and private institutions, linguistic service providers or anyone interested in making our world more sustainable are invited to participate.

Proposals are encouraged to focus on PSIT and to specially apply to any of the following areas of study:

  • PSIT and its relationship with the socio-political and economic environment
  • Intercultural and interlinguistic mediation
  • Multiculturalism and multilingualism
  • Linguistic resources and migrant population in the European Union
  • Technological advances in PSIT
  • Curriculum design and training in PSIT in humanitarian settings
  • T & I in/with indigenous language/lesser used languages
  • Language policies in African communities
  • PSIT as a tool/strategy/way to favor inclusion in society

The received proposals will be subject to an anonymous peer review process in order to ensure the quality of the accepted proposals.

The congress will have seminars dedicated to the practical aspects applied to PSIT, as well as plenary lectures and round tables.

The duration of the papers will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of debate.

The round table proposals must include a title and general description and the titles and summary of at least three contributions and will have one hour and thirty minutes.

The preferred conference languages will be Spanish and English.

Important dates:

  • Date of proposal submission (400-500 words, excluding bibliography): December 17th, 2019
  • Communication acceptance: January 21st, 2020
  • Submission of complete articles for publication in the
  • Proceedings: once the proposal has been accepted, the author must send the COMPLETE PAPER AND PAY REGISTRATION FEES before February 11th, 2020.
  • Otherwise, the papers WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE PROCEEDINGS.
