The interpreter’s code of ethics

The interpreter’s code of ethics in general emphasizes the following four major principles:

Accuracy Source-language speech should be accurately rendered into the target language	Scope of Practice Interpreters should limit their activities strictly to the practice of interpreting and refrain from giving advice to parties
Confidentiality Confidential information acquired in the course of interpreting or preparation shall not be disclosed by the interpreter without authorization.	Impartiality Interpreters should disclose real or potential conflict of interest and maintain objectivity or professional detachment
