據美聯社報導，標準制定與倡導組織「UL Standards & Engagement」在9日的報告指出，過熱又稱熱失控(Thermal Runaway)意外雖然仍屬罕見，但從2019年到2023年，發生件數已增加了28%，而且電子菸過熱機率又較其他裝置來得高，其中60%意外發生位置是在攜帶該裝置的乘客座位附近。

According to the report, thermal runaway episodes involving lithium-ion batteries rose 28% from 2019 to 2023, with an average of two incidents reported to the TRIP database per week.
