政府在2008年，取消徵收葡萄酒和酒精濃度不多於30%的酒類稅項，惟保留烈酒稅，即在攝氏20度的溫度下量度所得酒精濃度以量計多於30%的酒類，稅率為100%，烈酒稅去年度收入為7.08億。
