NBA從2019-20賽季導入「季後附加賽（Play-in Tournament）制度」，把原本例行賽前8名球隊直接取得季後賽門票的機制，更改為前1至6名直接晉級，但7至10名隊伍，得先透過一戰定生死的附加賽，才能取得最後兩張季後賽席位，讓比賽增添更多話題性與可看性。
