保安局長鄧炳強在立法會表示，正和深圳探討建設跨河橋樑，連接河套深港科技創新合作區的深港兩個園區，容許園區內的科研人員，在預先登記下，使用人面識別技術達至「無感通關」，但無意將「無感通關」推展至新的皇崗口岸或其他陸路口岸，因新皇崗口岸屬於高流量口岸，估計使用人次遠超10萬人，相關數據庫可能超出負荷。

“We’re thinking about something along the lines of a contactless clearance, so we put the BCP [border control point] over there without any clearance checks, but we need these people to pre-register,” Cheuk said.
