今次日環食現象在美國西岸時間周六早上開始出現，太陽、月亮及地球排成一直線，期間，月亮遮擋部分太陽光芒，月球邊緣出現光環，包括俄勒岡、加州、內華達及得州等多個美國西部及南部的州份，以及墨西哥都可以觀賞到今次日環食，不少人一早做好準備觀賞這次天文現象。
