美國地質調查局（U.S. Geological Survey）表示，當地時間27日晚間，夏威夷島上的「茂納洛亞」火山的破火山口開始噴發，而到了28日稍早時，其熔岩流已被控制在山頂區域內，並未對鄰近的社區構成威脅。

The eruption, which began shortly before midnight Sunday, was initially contained within the caldera – the concave area at the top of the volcano – but volcanologists said Monday lava was now escaping from cracks in its side.
