衞生防護中心傳染病處首席醫生歐家榮表示，本港確診數字自上月中開始加快上升，短短兩星期已由約5000宗倍增至1萬宗，而根據各項指標，包括污水監測及港大即時有效繁殖率，其中港大即時有效繁殖率為1.35，除非跌至1以下，疫情才會緩和，因此他預期確診個案短期內會繼續上升，暫時無證據已進入平台期，呼籲市民不應鬆懈，盡快打疫苗。
