中大醫學院兒科學系助理教授梁詩彥指出，蟎過敏的常見反應包括鼻癢、打噴嚏、鼻塞和夜晚出現較嚴重的咳嗽。若患者攝入被蟎蟲污染的食物，會出現呼吸急速、喉嚨腫脹、暈眩，甚至是致命的過敏性休克。
