大律帥公會諮詢會員後，前日 ( 5 日) 發表聲明，指收到「壓倒性反對意見」。公會強調，資深大律師委任安排不只是一份榮譽，傳統上獲委任的人都是行內的傑出領袖，有義務運用專業知識服務大眾。

The Bar Association says it is opposed to a proposal by Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng to allow legal officers in her department to attain the title of senior counsel when they are not barristers, saying there is “overwhelming opposition” to the plan among its members.
