由英國天文學家領導的研究團隊利用望遠鏡觀測，並拍攝到距離地球約二億一千五百萬光年的星體被吸進黑洞過程。整個過程持續超過六個月，星體在巨大引力下，被扯向黑洞的方向；星體物質被黑洞引力撕裂，形成長條狀，這個過程稱為「麵條化」。
