美國下令中國72小時內關閉駐休斯敦總領事館，稱此舉是為保護知識產權和個人資料。中國駐美大使館表示，美方有關指控毫無根據，所用的藉口牽強附會，完全不成立，是「欲加之罪，何患無辭」。中方敦促美方立即撤銷有關錯誤決定，否則中方必將作出正當和必要反應。
