警方指，急症室醫護人員如果發現有傷者的傷勢懷疑涉及刑事案造成，個案會轉介給警崗當值的警員。進行初步調查後，把報告交由相關警方單位跟進。另外急症室警崗的警員若發現有求診者，包括受害人或疑犯有可疑傷勢，亦會主動跟進。
