美國陸軍網(.army.mil)報導，「第三手」安裝在士兵的腰部，由戰術背心輔助固定，在去年的一次未來士兵裝備會議中首度公布這項開發案，並且由少數士兵試用以協助開發，去年一整年的測試下來，反應還算不錯，於是今年春季將進一步測試，再派15名士兵試用。
