他向教宗提出信上所寫的問題，並引述教宗說，「我告訴了他們（教廷的高官）不要製造另一個敏真諦（Mindszenty）事件！」Mindszenty樞機在共產政權下的匈牙利首都任主教，二戰後曾遭政府迫害繫獄，受盡折磨。教廷因當地政府壓力，要求他離開該國，之後立即任命一名獲共產政權同意的主教繼位。
