林鄭月娥說，可和鄭若驊商量會否讓鄭到立法會向公眾說明事件，但她指鄭已馬上交代僭建一事。她明白公眾或許不能接受「唔記得」、「好忙」、「政治敏感度不足」、「警覺性不足」等解釋，她亦深明「掉以輕心」並非用來開脫的理由，但希望社會能以包容態度看待事件，形容「呢件事係講緊2008年」，而香港在十年間僭建物處理的政策有很大變化。
