火山泥流是由火山向下流的泥石流或山崩，主要物質是火山碎屑岩和水。相比火山熔岩，火山泥流的移動速度比較快，可以高達每小時100公里，而且密度大、黏度高，可以粉碎、淹沒和沖走流經的建築物、橋樑和車輛等。
