早前表明積極參選新界東補選的新民主同盟范國威不願評論事件，只表示，初選機制存變數，仍有部分細節未落實，擔心在初選完成後，有自稱民主派的人士「乘人之危」，跳出來參選「鎅票」，令「初選機制」效益大打折扣。
