邵逸夫獎於2002年成立，04年起每年舉辦，表彰在天文學、生命科學與醫學，以及數學科學3個科學領域上，作出傑出而影響深遠成就的科學家，屬於國際性獎項，每個獎項的得獎者均獲頒證書、金牌和120萬美元獎金，若獎項由多於一人獲得，獎金亦會由所有得獎者平均獲得。
