肯尼亞的蒙內鐵路（Madaraka Express）日前通車，是這個非洲國家逾一世紀以來首條通車的大型鐵路。鐵路將會連接首都內羅畢及港口蒙巴薩。

Kenya Railways said on Wednesday that some 7,000 passengers have so far traveled on the newly launched Madaraka Express between Mombasa and Nairobi, the highest number ever recorded in one week.

Each station on the railway, known as the Madaraka Express, has been designed to blend in with the local environment. Athi River station is intended to mirror the nearby hills, while the stripped Miasenyi station was inspired by zebras.

蒙內鐵路全長四百八十公里，於二○一四年十二月動工，採用中國國鐵一級標準設計施工，除了是肯尼亞獨立百年來建成的首條鐵路，亦是首條海外的「全中國標準鐵路」。鐵路開通後，將來還會再接通烏干達、盧旺達、南蘇丹等東非五個國家。
