陳雲去年撰寫的《香港城邦論》被視為鼓吹本土主義的著作，被嶺大校長鄭國漢發警告信，批評他的言行與學者身分相悖，嚴重影響嶺大校譽，要求他「慎言」否則後果自負。陳昨凌晨在其個人facebook公佈消息，稱8月15日將結束他在嶺大7年的教學生涯，質疑是「港共報復我在2014年聲援佔領旺角的行動」，令他成為「佔領行動之後的第一個學界受害人。」據悉陳雲仍可就不被續約提出上訴。

Dr Horace Chin Wan-kan – employed by that world-renowned centre for intellectual excellence, Lingnan University, in Tuen Mun – and his seminal work “On The Hong Kong City-State”, along with the exponential growth of “localism”, “nativism” and what­ever else this work helped spawn, offers a prime home-grown example.
