金管局助理總裁陳維民(機搆拓展及營運)透露，新一系列的鈔票正在籌備中，會有新的防偽特徵，新鈔會由各發鈔行自行設計，至於何時推出，是否與今年香港回歸20周年有關，他未有詳細評論，但指出每數年都會推出新鈔。

The People’s Bank of China said the new banknotes have updated anti-forgery features amid rising complaints of fake bills – some of them handed out by the automatic teller machines at the nation’s state-run banks, according to the People’s Bank of China.
