英國地方政府協會及消防局表示,如果政府將目前飲酒超標不能夠駕駛的標準進一步收緊,就將會大幅減少因為酒後駕駛而引致的交通意外,估計每年可以挽回300條因醉酒駕駛而喪失的生命。

Driving while on drugs was associated with more deaths in 2015 than driving with alcohol in one’s system, a new report found. Still, some safety experts caution that drunken driving remains a bigger problem and say that “drugged driving,” as the report refers to it, needs more research.

According to the most recent Department for Transport figures, an estimated 240 people were killed in drink-driving related collisions across Great Britain in 2014. This number has fallen dramatically since 1979, when there were 1,640 deaths.
