澳洲外交部秘書長、前駐華大使孫芳安周日（8日）晚於阿德萊德大學孔子學院演講時，提到中國共產黨於澳洲的影響力日增，大學應維護正確價值觀，呼籲學生要互相尊重地辯論，而非試圖散播政治宣傳或壓抑他人意見。
