被港大否決陳文敏副校任命事件邀發，大學界師生近日不斷動員，繼港大人文學院主任Timothy O’Leary日前宣布成立關注組「HKU Vigilance」，監察學術自由及校內管治，來自不同院校的六十名學者今日將宣布成立「學術自由學者聯盟」（Scholars’ Alliance for Academic Freedom），以捍衛學術自由及團結學術界。

The newly-formed Scholars’ Alliance for Academic Freedom says the decision by the HKU Council to reject the appointment of liberal legal scholar Johannes Chan to a key managerial post was based on “incredulous” reasons, and that marks the beginning of the end of academic freedom in the city.
