“必須在2020年大選前保住執政地位”這一政治共識一旦迅速形成，接下來的事就順理成章了。值得一提的是，“脫歐”公投後曾聲稱要把啟動“脫歐”進程推遲到年底的梅，在確定繼任首相後旋即改口，稱自己將“切實啟動”程序並盡快與歐盟“心平氣和磋商”，力爭“好聚好散”——很顯然，這是在作保守黨新黨魁、英國新首相的“政治共識最大化”姿態了。
