屬ANEL的國會議員達馬沃利蒂斯（Costas Damavolitis）稱，反對債權人方案會導致復用舊貨幣德拉克馬（drachma），立即毀掉國家。言論一出，ANEL黨魁卡門諾斯（Panos Kammenos）把他逐出國會黨團。有另外4名ANEL議員要求取消公投，部分人表明會在公投中投支持票。

据美国《赫芬顿邮报》推演，如果希腊决意弃用欧元，重新啓用原先货币德拉克马，德拉克马对其他货币汇率将大幅下跌。本币大幅贬值将引发严重通货膨胀。通胀率届时将达到或超过40%，进一步限制民衆购买力。

如果退出欧元区，希腊国内生产总值(G D P)将在现在基础上收缩2/3。与此同时，随著德拉克马大幅贬值，3200亿欧元(3544亿美元)的希腊公共债务将自动增加。
