醫管局發言人回應，根據病人電腦掃描及正電子電腦掃描影像均顯示病人左上肺葉疑有惡性腫瘤，主診醫生根據臨床診斷及病況建議病人切除左上肺葉，獲病人同意接受手術，切除肺部組織化驗結果顯示為壞死肉芽腫性發炎，證實病人有肺結核，樣本並無癌細胞。
