「沙士」的早期症狀與流行性感冒相似。一般而言，患者起初會發燒 ( 體溫通常在攝氏 38 度或以上 ) 。其他症狀可包括發冷、顫抖、頭痛、疲倦或肌肉痛，有時還會出現肚瀉。

The initial symptoms are influenza-like. Patients with SARS usually begin with fever, which is often high (38oC or above), and sometimes associated with chills, rigors, headache, malaise, muscle pain or even diarrhoea.
