傳染病專科醫生勞永樂指出，含酒精的洗手液可以殺死大部分病毒及細菌，如流感病毒、副流感病毒、hMPV病毒及鼻病毒。手部接觸是第二最常見的呼吸道感染傳播方式，僅次於咳嗽等噴射式傳播。精神科及兒科病人由於不懂得照顧自己，較易中招，建議醫管局將洗手計劃推廣至兒科病房。
