我們於1999年曾就此進行研究，並且積極採取跟進行動，與香港大學（企業環境管治計劃）、香港電子業商會、香港工業總會（香港電子業總會）、英國永續設計中心及ISO 14000聯絡小組成員（工業貿易署、商界環保協會、香港品質保證局、香港生產力促進局及環保署）等策略性夥伴建立緊密聯繫。

港大企業環境管治計劃去年底於銅鑼灣、中環、尖沙嘴及鑽石山等購物區，訪問了一百三十一名時裝連鎖店的顧客，以了解他們在購物時會否考慮售價、品質、品牌、環境因素及社會責任等因素，並由一至五排出次序。結果發現，三成八港人選擇環境因素或社會責任為首要的考慮因素。

A study on the issue was carried out in 1999 and, as a follow up, the department has liaised closely with various strategic partners, including the University of Hong Kong (Corporate Environmental Governance Programme), the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association, the Federation of Hong Kong Industry (Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council), the Centre of Sustainable Design, and members of the ISO 14000 Liaison Group (the Trade and Industry Department, Business Environment Council, Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, Hong Kong Productivity Council and EPD).
