政府最終政策目標是全港使用零排放巴士。為此，政府已撥款1.8億元，供專營巴士公司購買36部電動巴士在港作試驗行駛，以評估它們在本地環境下的運作效能及表現。試驗計劃預計在2015年第一季陸續展開。
