經 過 百 多 年 的 發 展 ， 香 港 的 經 濟 實 力 已 經 躋 身 世 界 前 列 ， 他 認 為 ， 香 港 人 特 別 是 新 的 一 代 ， 在 物 質 生 活 以 外 ， 更 加 「 渴 望 心 中 富 有 」 ， 這 是 社 會 成 熟 的 表 現 。 他 說 對 於 這 一 種 轉 變 是 需 要 回 應 ， 但 是 亦 必 須 明 白 ， 要 解 決 社 會 上 不 同 的 問 題 都 需 要 對 話 ， 而 不 是 對 立 。
