機場三跑道有七項核心工程及設施，包括填海拓地約六百五十公頃，興建一條全長三千八百米的新跑道及滑行道系統，全新三跑道客運大樓及停機坪，並擴建二號客運大樓，興建新的旅客捷運系統及行李處理系統，以及完善道路網及交通設施。
