在反恐戰區裏，大多沒有常規戰爭的戰場，一切公務人員甚至平民都是襲擊對象，因此有大量武裝保鏢需求。雇傭兵和私人保鏢公司承擔武裝警衛作業，也是這些戰區的一個特徵。在美軍撤出巴格達市中心安全區之前，我在那裏看到過許多南美和烏幹達雇傭兵，承擔第二線，也就是內圈檢查站作業。
