消息解釋指，當局在上個財政年度已提升多項稅項的免稅額，為免進一步收窄稅網，故新一個財政年度只會酌量增加子女免稅額，並估計增幅可觀，而薪俸稅基本免稅額、父母免稅額則不會增加。
