美國在金融海嘯後實行4輪量化寬鬆(Quantitative easing，簡稱QE)，原意是向市場提供資金，避免次按危機後出現信貸緊縮影響經濟。同樣地，2008年底中國政府為擴大內需而推出一系列財政、貨幣政策(所謂「四萬億計劃」)。
