意外當日，一班往日本的國泰航班上滿客後，操作員將連接經濟艙的登機橋駛離機身，橋底部份零件突散落，數秒間整條橋向左翻側，壓向旁邊商務艙登機橋，操作員隨橋倒下多處骨折。
