蔡裕棋指出，黃斑部病變常見的包括老年性黃斑部病變、高度近視、糖尿病、視網膜血管阻塞合併黃斑部水腫、黃斑部皺褶、黃斑部裂孔等，民眾除了定期檢查眼睛之外，平常可以利用阿姆斯勒方格表或磁磚、窗框等直橫條排列的圖形自我檢查，以單眼方式檢測，當發現有視力模糊、中心盲點或視物扭曲的情形時，應盡快就醫。
