除了用於欺騙敵方外，龍勃透鏡還有一個作用就是讓己方雷達能發現己方戰機的方位，原因是匿蹤戰機的隱身性都很強，平常的民用空管雷達難以發現，如果不掛載龍勃透鏡就無法進行引導。也就是說，殲-20若不掛上龍勃透鏡，自己人也找不到飛機在哪。

Official pictures and videos show crews had fitted the jets with radar reflectors so they would appear on even civilian radars and make the  transit to the United Kingdom and onward to continental Europe as safe as possible.
