內地近年嚴打洋垃圾入口，反之香港卻無相關禁制，有美國環保團體作電子洋垃圾跨國調查，並以追蹤器追尋200件棄置電子產品去向，結果發現當中約兩成半、即55件電子棄置品被出口至香港，團體負責人指，香港已成洋垃圾拆解工場，並推算每日從美國輸港的洋垃圾估計達千噸，香港大有淪為電子廢物垃圾港之勢。

In Vietnam, female workers in e-waste workshops had high levels in their breast milk of flame retardants known as PBDEs, used in plastic housings for electronics, according to a 2010 study in the journal Science of the Total Environment.
