此疾病的診斷可根據臨床上的症狀，包括間歇性進食後腹脹，噁心嘔吐，且症狀與體位有關，仰臥位時加重，左側臥位、俯臥位時減輕，放射線學檢查包括上消化道鋇劑攝影和電腦斷層檢查顯示十二指腸第三段 (水平段) 有壓迫徵象，或血管造影檢查顯示腸繫膜上動脈與腹主動脈夾角縮小時一般可做出診斷。
