教宗方濟各宣佈任命天主教香港教區輔理主教楊鳴章為助理主教，即現任天主教香港教區主教湯漢的接班人。香港教區亦在今晚的慈悲特殊禧年閉幕感恩祭中，由梵蒂岡人員宣佈有關任命，具備繼任香港教區主教的權力。
