Boston University graduate and OpenWatch mastermind Rich Jones explains that OpenWatch’s main goal is to collect data on interactions with the police for statistical analysis, not to incriminate police as a whole. In fact, he has been surprised to receive recordings made by police themselves, intended to demonstrate proper procedure or to vindicate themselves in the face of an internal reprimand.
